Messages from the Principal & PTA

From The Oxford News, August 28, 2014:

Welcome back to school!

It’s been a nice summer but we have been busy the past few weeks, getting ready for school, and we are off to a great start. I want to thank the PTA for coordinating our “Welcome Lemonade” on Monday, August 25th, as well as the “Coffee on the Playground” this week. It was great to see all the new families joining the Oxford community and those returning. We are all looking forward to a great school year!

And what would a newsletter be without me mentioning traffic around the school? Please don’t park in the bus zone on Walnut or on Oxford. The area in front of the school on Oxford is for drop-off & pick-up only. (The parking enforcers will come and ticket and it’s a pricey ticket.) If everyone drove around the school in a clockwise direction, it would make the flow easier and the passenger door (where your child is) will always be facing the curb, allowing for a safe exit from the car.

And don’t block the neighbors’ driveways. Let’s be considerate of those who live around our school. I appreciate everyone’s cooperation with keeping our children and neighborhood safe. Here’s to a great school year!

-Beth Rhine, Principal

Hello Oxford families,

We are looking forward to a fun and enriching year celebrating our diverse community. The PTA has three main goals: community building, parent education and fundraising. As the events begin to pop up on the calendar, we appreciate your participation, your volunteer hours and your financial support, all which help pay for instructional hours, such as physical education, art, technology, aides and more.

Pencil is our new online volunteer management tool which will be used for volunteer sign-ups for school-wide events, as well as many classroom events. It will also serve as an online directory, so please take a moment to login and add your contact information. You should have received an invitation from Kirsten Tobey to join both the Oxford Community and your child’s grade. If you can’t find your original email invitation, please email Kirsten. Many hands make light work.

I am in search of a PTA Vice President who wants to take on a few roles this year with the PTA and Executive Team, and then would take on the position of PTA President next year with experience. Please let me know if you are interested in finding out more about the positions. A big thank you to all of the parents who have already completed some volunteer hours over the summer to get things ready. Please check out the upcoming events and news at OxfordElementary.org.

Thanks, Sabrina Leung, PTA President
