There have been some questions about Oxford PTA Membership. We hope this post clears up confusion.
PTA is the oldest and largest volunteer child advocacy association in the United States. Oxford PTA operates at the unit level and works to provide support and advocacy at the individual school and local community level. We operate under governing bodies and are linked to higher levels of PTA at the council, district, state, and national levels (Berkeley PTA council, Peralta District, California PTA, and National PTA).
Membership must be renewed annually. (We are working to set up a system where you can enroll in auto-renewel.) Sign up here and submit dues using one of the options at the bottom of the signup form. You can also print out and turn in a hard copy. Form Here Dues are $10 but we accept dues on a sliding scale. No one will be denied membership due to a lack of funds. The Oxford PTA currently has 25 members, 10 of which are the Executive Board.
Members are expected to commit to attending PTA meetings (as best they can) as there are times we need quorum in order to conduct certain PTA matters and votes. Unless otherwise noted, PTA Family Community Meetings are on the second Tuesday of the month at 6pm. Sometimes they are in person (like November) and other times (like December) they are on Zoom.
Membership gives you voting rights on PTA matters at meetings and we ask that you do your best to attend as we need 30% of members to conduct business. There is also an option to join as a volunteer without becoming a member. Check out ways you can get involved today - https://www.oxfordelementary.org/ptaopportunities
