Last Day of School News!

From the Principal

Dear Oxford Families,

Well, it’s the last week of school and time to wrap things up. There are so many things that have happened this year, some good, some challenging, but overall, it’s been a great year. I want to thank everyone for welcoming me to Oxford this year and I look forward to getting to know everyone even better next year. I have learned a lot and know that there is still work to be done.

It has been wonderful spending time with your children. It is amazing to see how much they have matured, and how much they have learned this year. My favorite aspect of the principal job is that I have the opportunity to get to know all the students and we have some pretty special kids at Oxford. Thank you for sharing them with us.

I want to send my congratulations out to our graduating 5th graders and their families. As we send off those students to new school experiences, we wish them the best. Some have younger siblings, and we will still see those families at school events, but for those who are leaving Oxford, we will miss you! Thank you for all you did to make our school a better place.

I am looking forward to having some time this summer to reflect on this school year. It’s an odd time of year because as I am busy wrapping things up for this school year, I’m making plans for the 2014-2015 school year. There will be some staffing changes this summer, and I will send out the information once positions are confirmed and all is in place. I would like to thank everyone for his/her support this year, even when presented with challenging situations. Oxford has an amazing faculty and staff, a great PTA, wonderful families, and a supportive neighborhood community. We all play a part in creating the Oxford community. It goes to show that it truly does take a village to raise a child…and to run a school. Thank you for everything, and have a restful and relaxing summer.

Report Cards

Report cards will be sent home with the students on the last day of school, Friday, June 13. If your child is not going to be at school that day, we will send them via regular mail. If you have moved this year, please check in with Deanna to be sure we have the correct mailing address.

Dry Marker Recycling – end of year collection

Bring your dry markers to be recycled into fuel! Look for the collection box in the hallway by the downstairs bookshelf. All brands of felt tip marker are welcome!

Lost & Found

The Lost & Found is overflowing. We have many, many unclaimed articles of clothing. Everything that is left after the last day of school, will be donated to the Emeryville Community Action Program. Please go through the lost and found to claim your child’s lost items. Remind your child that she or he can also take a moment to look for and claim lost clothing. Thank you very much, Ananda.
