Principal’s Message,

Happy Thanksgiving! I feel especially grateful this year! I am blessed to be part of such a supportive community and truly appreciate the support that I have received from students, staff and parents as I learn the culture of the Oxford Otters. We closed out this week with the Kindness Recognition Ceremony. During our three week challenge, Oxford students identified 650 different acts of kindness from their classmates. While only two from each class were able to be recognized, all 650 acts have helped to make our community a better place! As we move into December, we will be focusing on how to be allies to ourselves, our classmates and our community. Please ask your students to share what they are learning. I hope that all of our students and families enjoy the fall break!

Readathon

Don't forget about the Read-a-thon over Fall Break! Our goal is to raise $30,000 in two weeks! Ask family & friends to donate at bit.ly/ottersread23 and remind your student to read read READ!!

COVID Test Kits were sent home today.

Please Test Before Returning from Fall Break We encourage all students and staff to test for COVID-19 before they return to school following Fall Break. Test kits were sent home with students and staff today. Most at-home tests have extensions past the dates printed on the box. CDPH recommends using at-home tests before their extended expiration dates. Click this link to access information on expiration dates.

BSEP - What is it?

BSEP funding is essential to the district’s budget. The $37 million received from BSEP in the 2023-2024 school year represents 18% of the District’s funding for our public schools. BSEP funds critical programs including smaller class size, libraries, arts, music, counselors, site program funds, and more! Our current BSEP measure sunsets at the end of the 2024-25 year. BSEP must be renewed in order to continue the programming and support that BSEP provides to every student in every school. View our BSEP Renewal Fact Sheet to learn more

Please visit the BSEP Measure information webpage to learn more about how BSEP supports our students.

LOST & FOUND

Please continue looking for your kids' clothes in the lost & found and labeling them. All unclaimed and unlabeled clothing will be donated on Dec. 15, 2023. I will be asking for a volunteer to take the boxes of clothes away on that day to donate them.

WE NEED YOU!

The PTA is all volunteer run - from our school website to fundraising events to community building - it’s on all of us to make that a reality. We need people to help plan our Winter Family Dance, Toast to Oxford Auction, and Otterpalooza Spring Fling & Raffle. These events CANNOT happen if we don’t have people help plan them. We also need a classroom coordinator liaison, rainbow family liaison, campus beautification volunteer, help with communications, and dine out/shop out fundraiser volunteer. PTA volunteering is around YOUR schedule and is accessible to all, no amount of time is too little. Many hands make light work!

HOMEROOM DINE OUT FUNDRAISER

Our next Oxford family social and dine out fundraiser is at the new Homeroom location in Berkeley on Thursday, December 7 5:30-8:30. Can’t make it? Take some food to go. Share with friends and family.
