Dear Oxford Community,

Thank you for your incredible effort and spirit in supporting our school through the raffle ticket sales. Your energy and commitment show just how special this community is and right now, we need that energy more than ever.

In the face of current climate around deepening federal cuts and BUSD’s budget deficit, we must step up to preserve and protect what makes Oxford exceptional.

We set out to raise $20,000 through raffle ticket sales, but with 6,000 tickets printed, we have the exciting potential to reach $30,000. Let’s rally together to not just meet our goal but to blow past it.

These funds are not just numbers on a page. They directly support the programs and people who enrich our children’s education every day:

  • Support for Arts, PE, Recess, Dance, and Counseling staff salaries

  • Kindergarten aides

  • Classroom supplies, field trips, and online subscriptions

  • 5th grade traditions like the overnight trip and yearbook

  • OFEE and Family support services, staff appreciation, and community events

  • And yes, the beautiful new mural and the shade structure that will be on our yard—both fully funded by the PTA at $6K and $55K respectively.

Where we stand:

So far, we've sold 1,410 tickets and raised $7,050 but there’s still a long way to go.

Shout-out to Ms. Ahmed’s kindergarten class, currently leading the pack, with Ms. Nielson’s class close behind!

Here are some tips and photos that some of the Kinder parents have shared:

3rd grade and Kinder mom and PTA Executive Committee member, Ellie Smith shared this beautiful photo with us of her three kids selling raffle tickets at a lemonade stand (In the photo, from L-R, Evie (3rd), Kate (K), and Tommy (future Otter).

She says her tip would be “... to pick a beautiful day, and let all your friends and family know before hand! We’ve also made signs and posted them around the neighborhood...”

K mom, Abby Marguiles shared this beautiful photo of her Kindergartner Cole and little brother Quinn selling tickets at a lemonade stand.

K mom and PTA Executive Committee member, Juliana Schwartz shared this beautiful photo of Rafa!

She shared that setting up a bake sale , “...right after school would get more elementary aged kids, who are starving and more likely to pressure their parents into buying a treat...also, try a bake sale on 4th street...”.

K mom, Madeleine Katz shared this cute video of Audrey reading her ask to the family. She says, “it worked like a charm...she raked in $100 in about 5 minutes...”

K dad and PTA Executive Committee member, Jason Baeten shared that trying to engage family members and letting your kid talk about how amazing the school is a sure shot winner.

Some important reminders:

  • The deadline to turn in the tickets is May 9.

  • Please note that we can only accept cash/check. You can ask people to give you digitally but we’d need you to give us only cash or check. This is a California law.

  • Please return any unsold tickets in the envelope or give it to Ms. Kaitlin at the front desk. There is a great demand from parents to sell more tickets and we can really use the unsold tickets.

  • Buy your meal ticket in advance.

Volunteer at Otterpalooza

Please sign-up to volunteer at the event on May 17. We need your help and cannot do it without you.

Let’s turn this effort into a true Oxford success story. Every ticket sold is a vote of confidence in our children’s future. Every dollar raised strengthens our school.

Together, we can make it happen.

With deep gratitude,

Harpreet Mangat (Sophie Zoglauer’s mom) and Selene Wung Kaye (Serafina and Beckett’s mom)
